The beginning of a new adventure.

I love this photo of my sweet baby and I.
I forgot I had a blog. I’ve been writing in my paper journal instead.
LIfe is great! My gardens look a-maaaaa-zing! This weather we’ve been having is so perfect.
I was supposed to have started on a baby quilt for a friend but it’s on the back burner. Baby’s due in like 2 weeks… so I really should get started.
I left Molly with my parents for 4 hours on Thursday so John and I could go to dinner and a movie (The Hunger Games). I thought about her at least once every minute, even if the thought was just simply “Molly.” I missed her so much I got teary-eyed on the way home. But she was a champ. I had left some breastmilk in a bottle, some sweet potato and her favourite little blanky. There’s a first time for everything.
I want to be one of those cool, indie-looking, cookie-baking, craft-making moms. It’s so hard! So sometimes I go to goop.com and see what Gwyneth is up to. That makes it worse. She’s always like, “Next time you’re in Paris, this is the bakery you should visit!” or “Try the Tracy Anderson Method… it worked for me!” Oh Gwyneth. It’s love-hate, I tell you.

Sulphur Bluff house. There’s one more bedroom/John’s office but it’s messy and unorganized.

My view this morning while hanging out the washing.
You realize you are living in the country when you leave the front door open for fresh air and your husband says, “You might want to close the door… do you want a skunk to walk in?” I quickly closed the door, and opened a window with a screen instead.
Life is slow here. Slow and calm, yet exciting. We have cows, a farm truck, a 4 wheeler… and Molly of course.
On Sunday afternoon we got home from being at the farm, and there was a bag of homemade peanut butter cookies on our porch from the Methodist church, welcoming us to the community. We’ve gone to 2 potlucks, are on a first-name-basis with Tiffany at the post office, and the Verizon guy gave me a new phone for free just because he hadn’t had many customers that day. Love it here!

I inadvertently shoplifted today.

Things get a little hectic when out shopping with the baby. Especially at my former place of work here in Montgomery (Earth Fare). Ex co-workers want to hug me, hold Molly, exchange phone numbers, etc. So I got home this afternoon from doing a little shopping there and found a face wash I did not pay for. It was tucked away in a corner of the little basket under the stroller that I use as my shopping cart. I called and will pay next time I’m there. Terrible, I know.

What else….? It’s almost Christmas. Still need to think of something to get John. If Ron Paul were to be elected in the next few days, I’d say “Merry Christmas love - Ron Paul is your president.” That’s all John wants anyway.

2 weeks until we move!

I sewed a bunch of cloth diaper inserts for Molly’s little gPant diapers the other day. I think we now have enough to where I only need to wash her diapers every 3 days. Nice!

My posts seem to be all about little Molly, but that’s OK! She’s the joy in my heart!

Off to make a cup of tea….. mmm.

Whoa, it’s December. Slow down, 2011.
Molly is one of the top three best things to ever happen to me. She’s learning she has hands to hold her crinkle book with. She’ll be three months old in a week!
I’ve started my homemade Christmas presents. Can’t say what they are or post a photo, but they are pretty neat. And really fun to make. Today I must make some more cloth inserts for Molly’s gDiapers. She’s in size medium now! Grow baby, grow! As Sarah T. puts it, it’s “the boob juice,” aka breast milk. So true.
I used to love to shop for clothes. I probably spent way too much money. Now when I go out I just can’t seem to get into clothes shopping. I prefer buying outfits for little Molly. I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight (yay!), so I’ll just revamp all my old clothes I guess. Mix and match and make new outfits! I read about a woman whose new year’s resolution was to not buy any new clothes that year, and she did it! I’d kind of like to try it. But I don’t know if I could do it.

Molly is a happy baby.
Sometimes I would say, “she’s such a good baby.” Until recently, when I had the thought that really, there is no such thing as a “good” or “bad” baby. All babies are born perfectly innocent, helpless, and dependent upon others. They are born selfish and demanding because they know no other way. They want what they want, and they want it now! A crying baby is not a “bad” baby. It just desperately wants its parents to figure out why it’s upset and to make it right!
Figuring out what’s wrong can be quite challenging. But I’m learning Molly’s different cries and noises.
I’m so thankful for John and Molly - my little family! We all get along and love each other and love Jesus and love our life together. I’m thankful that I can be at home with Molly every day. I’m thankful for our parents and siblings, and how much they love us.

Thanksgiving is tomorrow. We’re spending it with friends and their family. I think I’ll make some shortbread. And a scalloped potato and sweet potato dish I’ve been wanting to try.

Another day at home today with the little one. I started packing a little bit - just pictures off the wall, random candles, etc. So weird to be moving AGAIN. But this will be the last move for a loooong while.

Resolution for this Christmas? Make all my gifts! A little ambitious, but with all the time on my hands, being a stay at home mom and all, I think I should give it a go! I’ve got some GREAT ideas. We shall see…

The Cowboys play their rival Redskins today. John and I went to a game last year and we beat them. Very exciting game. Let’s do it again today ‘Boys!
After experimenting with a few different brands of baby wipes, I decided to make my own for Molly’s sweet little butt. Seventh Generation were not moist enough and didn’t glide. I didn’t like the smell of Pampers Sensitive. And Huggies kind of fell apart.
So, I use my good friend Janna’s recipe: Cut a “Viva” brand paper towel roll in half width-wise. Mix together 2 1/2 cups of hot tap water, 2 tbsp. baby oil, and 2 tbsp. baby wash. Place one of the paper towel halves cut-side down in a container with a tight fitting lid. Pour the liquid over the paper towel roll. Take out the cardboard from the middle of the roll and put the lid on the container. In about 10 minutes, the wipes are ready to use! Nice and moist, and they smell like whatever baby wash you use!
Nanny Kerr passed away yesterday. Although I have not seen her since 2000, I do have fond memories of her coming to stay with us in Ngutunui. I pray for Mum and her side of the family; that they all may feel peace about Nanny’s passing.

John has a booth at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Art today and tomorrow, selling pottery and paintings.  All three of us are going to the reception this evening. Should be fun! This is one of his new paintings, titled “Trouble in Dodge City.”
